You must be travelling to a destination outside the European Union. Domestic flights and journeys within the European Union therefore do not give access to tax-free shopping, except in the case of departure to a French Overseas territory, where VAT exemption remains possible. Conditions for tourist tax refund:

The tourist tax refund allows visitors residing outside the European Union to be reimbursed the VAT on their purchases made in France. This scheme applies to products purchased in city shops, department stores or shopping centres, and not only in the boarding area. To obtain a VAT refund on your purchases in France you must meet the following criteria:

• Reside in a country outside the European Union

• Be on a temporary stay (less than 6 months in France)

• Be at least 16 years old
